As a photographer, I am happiest when I am able to capture an image from a perspective that is different, original, and unexpected. I like to capture flowers so close that the viewer feels like they are inside the petals. I view buildings from dramatic angles, such as looking straight up from the base of a tall monument. I love bright colors, blue skies and blurry backgrounds.
My best photography is outdoors, capturing nature, beautiful buildings, monuments, and animals. In most of my images, you can assume that somewhere nearby are my wonderful husband and my delightful daughter, waiting patiently for me to catch up to them. I am happiest when I can combine my love of photography with joyful adventures with my family.
I received a blue ribbon in the New Mexico State Fair in 2010 for my photo, “Spring Poppy.” I first made my photos available for sale in 2012 in Alexandria, VA and through Etsy shop, Photo Gifts by Rachel.
I earned a Digital Photography Certificate from the Continuing Education department of the University of New Mexico in 2010. Born in Fredericksburg, VA, I attended Virginia Tech and the College of William and Mary. I currently reside in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where I tutor chemistry and biology at Central New Mexico Community College.
